Flaxman Library Special Collections held a week of lunchtime lectures celebrating the contributions of SAIC faculty to artists’ publishing and critical discourse. Lecturers include: Bruce Jenkins, Nathanaël and Chantal Neveu, and James Hugunin.


November 17th

Bruce Jenkins on Marcel Broodthaers' Voyage on the North Sea

Bruce Jenkins (Faculty, Film, Video, New Media, and Animation) lectures on Marcel Broodthaers' book and film Voyage on the North Sea as part of the class "Art, Language, Concept" taught by Patrick Durgin. 

November 19th

Nathanaël and Chantal Neveu in Conversation

Nathanaël (Faculty, Visual and Critical Studies) and Québécoise poet Chantal Neveu discuss Neveau's book "A Spectacular Influence," recently translated by Nathanaël.

November 20th

James Hugunin (Faculty, Art History Theory and Criticism) reads from his most recent book, Case X, which is a fictional memoir of a cancer patient’s treatment.

This lecture was held in conjunction with a retrospective exhibition of Hugunin’s work over the last 30 years. The exhibition took place in the Flaxman Library Main Collection vitrines on the 6th floor and included Hugunin's artists’ books, experimental fiction, and academic writing.
